Introduction

Hi,Welcome to my Rollie Free blog! I look forward to our dialogue about this unique motorcyclist and about my biography of Rollie titled "Flat Out! The Rollie Free Story."

There are so many more things that we can discuss. For instance, there's a story behind the writing of the book. Rollie's one-sided passion about the Indian-Harley rivalry, suggests we ought to discuss matters from the Harley-Davidson point of view. The 1920-1953 era in general, would be a worthwhile topic. Who knows where we might go together!

Hi Jerry,

Yes, nice book indeed and a good account on all fronts of a very varied and active life!!!

Rollie Free was mentionned in the Dees' Miller Dynasty book as having driven in 47 the ex 1932 Miller-Hartz, actually the LAST straight 8 of the family, but no photos there with Rollie.

So your book even fills a gap there and it's most welcome, although I would contest the Wetteroth chassis, that car was pure Hartz/Goosen design from head to toe. Maybe Wetteroth lenghtened the original frame in the late 30's?

As for the H-D versus Indian wars, I'll leave it for the moment!!! Rollie did have some strong opinions there, but I guess you need these to achieve anything on this earth...

All the best from Patrick
